This story called “The Living, the Dying, and the Dead” is, in fact, a true story. Most of it is, at least. I’ll explain.
First of all, the name may make you think of people literally dying, but it means spiritually. People die all the time spiritually because they don’t stay fast to God. Of course, there are consequences for that. Examples of this kind of death in this story are: Chris’ grudge against Skyler. This causes Skyler to be under a great amount of negative pressure that causes him to cut himself. This represents the dying of his spirit. If Amy didn’t come along, he would have been a dead spirit. Amy represents the living spirit.
What I mean by true story is; Skyler and Chris are real people who live at a Boy’s Ranch. I described them exactly how they look like in real life. Yes, they do quarrel a lot, and sometimes I thought they were going to kill each other. That’s how much they fought. Also, the girl Amy…is actually me. That’s not my real name though. Yes, Amy did/I do like Skyler. This is based on my adventure at a Youth Camp I went to at Bonita Park, Ruidoso (in New Mexico). The first time I noticed Skyler was when he was fighting with Chris. Later that day, I found out they both lived at a Boys’ Ranch in Lubbock, Texas.
Some of these things in this story aren’t actual things that really took place. This is what I’m talking about; Skyler cutting himself is something I do not know if he does, but I put it in the story to make it clearer of what he is feeling. Also, the whole scene of Amy finding out about Skyler’s “emo” habit isn’t what happened at camp either. The whole quarter thing IS true. The actual story went like this:
I was trying to get a drink and I needed ONE more quarter and asked my brother for one, but he wouldn’t give it to me. Then Skyler came up to me and gave me one! The next day I offered him a 5 dollar bill since he said he didn’t have any money left. He didn’t accept it, SO…my friend and I set out for a mission and went to his cabin to put the quarters in his suit case. Instead, my guy friend (I couldn’t go in there since I was a girl and it was a boy’s dorm) didn’t have enough time to put it inside and left it out on the bed since Skyler was already coming. He caught me and gave back the quarters (he was laughing). Then the NEXT day…I attempted to do it again and this time my guy friend found some pants of his and stuffed the quarters in there! Now I don’t know if he ever found them but OH WELL. It was fun!
ANYWAYS…the whole life story with Skyler is made up. I honestly don’t know what his family story is, but I heard he was abused so that’s why he lives in a boy’s ranch. I just made it more dramatic that way the story would be more intense. And the last scene of the story when Skyler tells Amy he likes her is…unfortunately….not true. FORTUNATELY, when I said he kept looking at Amy WAS true! During the whole time at camp, we passed each other glances and smiles…It always made my day!
I made this Epilogue (Aka: the final chapter or whatever) to make it clear of what happened in reality and what didn’t. I will never forget Skyler. Just the sound of his name makes me look towards the sky!
The full titled should be "Epilogue to The Living, the Dying and Dead".
If you some how read this first, the actual story is here: [link]
I hope this sums things up for you! You can not me for any questions about this. I'd be more than happy to!
